Papers of Holman, a prominent local historian and editor of the "Antigo Daily Journal," including draft and printed copies of articles on logging, railroads, and other local history topics; a brief biography of Ludwig Motzfeldt, a northern Wisconsin trader; fragmentary correspondence from other local historians and writers such as Fred C. Burke, August Derleth, Neita B. Friend, Fred L. Holmes, Deborah Martin, and Malcolm Rosholt; and letters from individuals such as Sidney Bedore, Walter Havighurst, and Helen C. White commenting on various writings by Holman. Most extensive is the correspondence with Mrs. William Scudella, a descendant of Queen Marinette (d. 1865), an early resident of Green Bay of mixed ancestry known for her promotion of ethnic harmony.
